A Glimpse IntoOur Design Process

Every AERIAL piece begins on paper, but it is finished by hand. Our Oversized Tailored Blazer took nine months, four toiles and more fittings than we would like to admit.

Our design team works from a small studio filled with fabric swatches, archive references and photographs of the women and men who wear our clothes. We sketch, but mostly we drape — pinning fabric directly onto the stand to see how it wants to fall.

The toile

Before we cut a single metre of wool, we make each garment in calico. We fit it on real bodies of different heights and shapes, and adjust the pattern until the shoulder sits exactly right.

The hand finish

Buttonholes, collar felts and hems are finished by hand by our partner atelier. These are the details you may never consciously notice — but you will feel them every time you wear the piece.

“We design slowly so that you can wear it for a long time.”
